Though the MCU takes its cues from key stories in the comics, there are some storylines that the franchise simply can't adapt to the big screen.
Though the MCU has built its success on adapting stories from Marvel Comics, there are certain storylines that the franchise can no longer use. In the years since its inception, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has transformed the modern superhero movie, taking several standalone stories and linking them with a large, over-arcing narrative set in a shared universe.
10 Bucky As Captain America As with many superheroes, the mantle of Captain America has been shared by a number of heroes in the comics. One such character, Bucky Barnes, exists within the MCU, but there's no chance that he'll ever get his turn behind the iconic shield. The MCU has already seen the mantle pass to Sam Wilson, skipping over Bucky entirely.
7 Thanos Wins Despite being one of the strongest villains in the MCU, Thanos has only technically been shown to "win" once - and that was later undone by the Avengers anyway. That makes any adaptation of the Thanos Wins comic storyline all but impossible, as it follows Thanos traveling to the end of time in which he meets his future self after killing almost everyone in existence.
4 Daredevil & Black Widow In the comics, there was a time when Daredevil and Black Widow became romantically involved, moving to San Francisco to fight crime together. Naturally, the storyline would be impossible to adapt in the MCU given that Black Widow died before Daredevil was introduced.
