While shonen as a demographic typically targets teen boys, works that fall under this category typically employ universal themes and appeals that every manga reader can enjoy. Regardless of age or gender, no manga reader can disregard a well-written shonen manga.
9 Sakamoto Days Yuuto Suzuki's Sakamoto Days follows its eponymous protagonist Sakamoto, who was once known as the best hitman in the world. However, his life drastically changed after falling in love, getting married, and quitting his old job to work as a convenience store clerk instead. 7 Dandadan Yukinobu Tatsu's Dandadan centers itself on two protagonists: Momo Ayase, who believes in ghosts but not in aliens, and Ken Takakura, who believes in aliens but not in ghosts. After meeting by chance and trying to prove to each other that their own theories are correct, they end up realizing that both of them were real all along.
5 Act-age While anime and manga critiquing the entertainment industry is becoming more prevelant, with Oshi no Ko being a recent hit, it remains largely unexplored. Act-age follows Kei Yonagi, a girl who has always dreamed of acting, but struggled to devote herself to it, as she has to take care of her younger siblings.
