A female was fatally stabbed in Oakland Monday afternoon.
OAKLAND — A 10-year-old girl was fatally stabbed Monday afternoon inside an East Oakland residence, and a possible suspect was detained, authorities said.Dispatchers received word of a possible shooting or stabbing just before noon Monday at a two-story apartment building in the 4500 block of Bancroft Avenue.
A suspect, who police would not identify Monday afternoon, was found suffering from apparently self-inflicted wounds. After being taken into custody, they were later listed in critical condition at a hospital. Allison also thanked responding officers for their heroism and dedication, adding that he had activated a peer-support group and a chaplain to provide counseling after encountering the tragedy.Traffic was blocked off outside the building along Bancroft between 45th and 46th avenues, with officers working to escort some residents waiting outside to be able to return to nearby homes.
