Hollywood has been repeating the same old action-movie cliches for decades, to the point that they all begin to feel the same - it's time to change.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Hollywood has been repeating the same action tropes for decades, and many of them are really getting old. At a certain point, even the highest-budget, big-buzz movies all begin to feel the same. Character archetypes are repeated, the same old plot twists come into play, and a few unrealistic happenings get brushed aside like nothing.

10 Coming Out Of Retirement There are countless movies whose first scenes set up a big problem that only one person could possibly fix—the character that left the game years ago. The 'coming out of retirement' trope goes right along with the reluctant hero archetype. The John Wick movies are an example of this since the central character is seen as morally sound in a way that contradicts their violent capabilities.

7 Never-Ending Ammunition A gunfight is another staple of action movies and a cliche that is likely to be around for as long as Hollywood itself. However, to keep the action going, many films keep their characters shooting far longer and without interruption than should be possible. A notorious movie in this regard is Hellboy, since the titular character's signature pistol, the Samaritan, should only be able to fire six bullets without being refilled.

4 The Team Hacker Saying ‘We’re In’ Hackers in action movies are rarely portrayed realistically. They are always sitting in a dark room and will often be the ones to provide the comedic one-liners through a com system. Though this character archetype is a little overdone in action, there are enough beloved techy characters to keep this going in Hollywood.
