The best costumes of DC’s most underrated heroes.
The DC Universe is filled with plenty of heroes who have some of the most recognizable costumes in the entire comic book medium. From the black and yellow symbol emblazoned across Batman's chest to Superman's bright red trunks, the A-listers of the DCU have become icons to fans all over the world.
14 Adam Strange Adam Strange is the planet Rann’s resident war hero. After being caught in a mysterious Zeta-Beam, Strange was teleported to the faraway planet where he’s fought valiantly to defend the technologically advanced Rann. Strange wears a red and white flight suit that protects him from harm that also contains a miniature Zeta-Beam projector that can send him all over the galaxy.
11 Fire/Ice Fire and Ice might be individual heroes, but their superhero outfits play off one another well. The duo have costumes modeled after their specific power. Beatriz da Costa wears a radiant green outfit to match her powerful verdant flames while Tora Olafsdotter wears a blue and white costume and fur-lined boots to go along with her icy abilities. The duo’s classic appearances helped them go down as some of the most notable members of Justice League International.
8 Deadman People on the mortal plane might not be able to see Deadman, but thankfully readers are able to see his peculiar costume. Before he died, Boston Brand was a high-flying aerialist who was known as Deadman for his death-defying stunts. Brand wore a red leotard with the letter ‘D’ on it, as well as a mask to make him look more corpse-like. After dying, this became Deadman’s permanent look as a ghost, but admittedly, he rocks the look.
5 Guardian Superman may be Metropolis’ greatest hero, but Guardian is always ready to don his blue and gold duds to keep people safe. Jim Harper has a fairly simple set of armor with a helmet to keep him safe from the city’s greatest threats. He’s also got a shield that can stand up to Superman’s strongest villains. Harper is a very down-to-Earth hero and his outfit perfectly captures that aesthetic.
