Mystery surrounds the discovery of two bodies over the last four weeks at Sandy Hook, a barrier spit that marks the northernmost point of the Jersey Shore. The first body, a white adult woman, was recovered from the water off of Gunnison Beach, around 3 p.m. on May 6, according toHer identity was being withheld by police as the woman’s next of kin had not yet been notified, Curry said.The second body, an adult white male, was spotted by a fisherman roughly one mile offshore north of Sandy Hook on Monday around 6 p.m., Curry said. A New York City Fire Department Marine Unit as well as members of the Coast Guard arrived and recovered the body.
