Two men, aged 52 and 68, were arrested for suspected drug-related offences after a stand-off that lasted over four hours on Sept 26.

When police officers arrived at the block, it was established that two men had locked themselves in a residential unit.

"As it was assessed that the men might pose a danger to themselves, officers from the Special Operations Command, Crisis Negotiation Unit and Singapore Civil Defence Force responded to the incident," police added. SCDF told Stomp that it received a call for assistance at around 6.55am. A person was seen standing outside the window ledge of a kitchen in a 12th-floor unit.

Two safety life air packs were deployed, said SCDF. Rescuers from the Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team were also on standby as a precautionary measure. She recounted:"An old Chinese man was trying to evade the Central Narcotics Bureau by trying to jump down from the 12th floor. It took almost three hours for the police to get him off the ledge."

Police officers managed to gain entry into the unit at about 10.15am and the two men were subsequently arrested for suspected drug-related offences.View more photos in the gallery.53-year-old woman apprehended after locking herself in room of Havelock Road HDB flat
