He was arrested within one hour and will be charged with aggravated outrage of modesty today.
A 24-year-old man will be charged in court on Friday for allegedly molesting a 38-year-old woman inside a lift in the vicinity of Serangoon Central.With the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the man's identity and arrested him within an hour of the report.
The man will be charged with the offence of aggravated outrage of modesty against any person in a lift in any building, which carries a jail term of between three and ten years, and caning. Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division and Assistant Commissioner of Police Zed Teo commended his officers for their swift action in responding to, identifying and arresting the man.
He said: “The police have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who threaten the safety of the community and will spare no effort in ensuring that offenders are swiftly apprehended and dealt with in accordance with the law.”
