A snow squall warning has been issued by Environment Canada for the Sault and St. Joseph Island areas. Snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are possible by Sunday with wind gusts of 80 km/h also possible.
A snow squall warning has been issued by Environment Canada for the Sault and St. Joseph Island areas."In the wake of a winter storm, snow squalls will develop and affect the Sault Ste. Marie area," an alert from Environment Canada said. "Local snowfall accumulations of 15 to 25 cm are possible by Sunday, with a majority of the snow falling today and tonight. Strong northwest winds in tandem with squalls will result in blowing snow and very poor visibility at times.
A special weather statement has also been issued for areas including Searchmont, Montreal River Harbour, and Batchawana Bay.The windy conditions are expected to continue into this evening. Further north, a winter storm warning is in place for areas including Wawa, Pukaskwa Park, White River, and Dubreuilville.
Snowfall amounts of 30 to 40 cm are possible in the area with wind gusts up to 70 km/h and potentially blizzard-like conditions.
