Two women were served arrest warrants last week for their alleged roles in the killing of a 26-year-old woman,Alexis Pryor, 35, and Frances Martinez, 38, each face a capital murder charge in the death of Sidney Palmer. Pryor and Joel Perez, 42, also face charges of abuse of corpse tied to the disposing of her body, arrest-warrant affidavits say.

The charges come more than four months after Palmer’s remains, along with a black bag and duct tape, were found Aug. 7 in a field in an unincorporated part of Dallas County near Lancaster. A medical examiner was not able to determine the cause or manner of her death, according to the affidavits, but one suspect reportedly told police she was suffocated.

During a search of Perez’s email, detectives found a photo of note from Palmer to him saying she “expressed her love … and her desire to continue the relationship,” police wrote in an affidavit. The photo was taken Aug. 28, 2021, a few weeks before Palmer’s death. Palmer also tried to get in touch with Perez by calling and Facebook messaging through early September, police said.

Perez also told police, according to the affidavit, that once the women got to the apartment, they duct-taped a bag over Palmer’s head and killed her. Perez went to the apartment the next day and the three suspects moved Palmer’s body to the field, he told police.
