Police union representatives have cited heavy workloads, canceled days off and a general anti-police climate as adding to officers’ mental health woes.
That brings the total number of Chicago Police Department officer suicides to seven this year.
Robert Sobo, director of the Professional Counseling Division and Employee Assistance Program for the Chicago Police Department, and Alisha Warren, assistant commissioner of mental health for the Chicago Department of Public Health, joined “Chicago Tonight” to discuss the challenges facing police officers and the resources available to them.
