If Brock Purdy can’t play against Seattle, then veteran Josh Johnson takes over at quarterback.
The 49ers officially listed quarterback Brock Purdy Wednesday as questionable to face the Seattle Seahawks, leaving open the possibility they could have their fourth different starting quarterback this season.
Purdy has an oblique strain on his left side as well as a rib issue. Also listed as questionable to face Seattle Thursday night at Lumen Field are defensive lineman Kerry Hyder and cornerback Ambry Thomas . The following players are out and will not play: quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo , defensive lineman Kevin Givens ,safety Tarvarius Moore , defensive lineman Hassan Ridgeway , wide receiver Deebo Samuel and cornerback Samuel Womack
Listed as having been limited in practice during a closed session before the 49ers left for Seattle, Purdy got in some work Tuesday night at Levi’s Stadium but did very little in the presence of reporters during the media open viewing window. If Purdy can’t go, then Josh Johnson becomes the 49ers fourth starting quarterback this season after Trey Lance, Garoppolo and Purdy.“Just sore,” Purdy said when asked how he was feeling. “When I got into the treatment room, they just did some tests and stuff on me and whatnot. It wasn’t like excruciating pain or anything like that. It’s jut where I was at, just sore after a game.”
