Frozen was based on The Snow Queen fairytale by Hans Christian Anderson, but several fun plot details weren't used - but Frozen 3 could change this.
Frozen 3 is in the works, and although the plot is still unclear, many unused details from the original Snow Queen fairytale could be adapted. Like many Disney Princess movies, Frozen was based on a fairytale, but the plot differs in nearly every way. Ultimately, the only real influence that the House of Mouse had from The Snow Queen was the idea of a woman with powers and a castle of ice.
Interestingly, ABC included this evil mirror in Once Upon a Time in an episode that introduced Anna, Elsa, and another Snow Queen—so it's clear that Disney has already considered this angle. It could be interesting to see it recreated in Frozen 3 and would be an easy way to introduce some conflict if, say, the mirror shards ended up in either Anna, Elsa, or Kristoff's eyes.
3 Frozen 3 Can Include The Robber Maiden Character From The Snow Queen In the Snow Queen fairytale, a young girl, Gerda, went on a journey to find her best friend, Kay, who the Snow Queen had captured. During her travels, she met several interesting characters. Like Anna met Kristoff and Olaf on her trip up the mountain, this little girl met a princess, a reindeer, talking snowflakes, and a girl known as the Robber Maiden.
