Leslie Mah, a 62-year-old former sales manager, defied the notion of retirement and embarked on a new journey as an intern at Malaysian beauty startup Dododots. His enthusiasm and willingness to learn resonated with the company, leading to a full-time position and inspiring others to embrace lifelong learning.

Leslie Mah, a 62-year-old former sales manager, is proving that learning has no age limit. He began his journey as an intern at Malaysian beauty start-up Dododots in January 2024, thanks to his daughter who saw the company's recruitment advertisement on social media. Initially hesitant, Mah decided to take the leap with the support of his family. 'It was exciting and scary at the same time because you are treading into unknown territories,' he said.

'At this age, I have nothing to lose so why not try something I have never done before.'Mah quickly adapted to the new environment, learning new skills and eventually handling bigger projects, including overseeing the renovation of the company's warehouse. He credits his colleagues for their welcoming attitude and willingness to teach him about the latest trends. 'They were very welcoming and friendly. They taught me all the new and upcoming trends,' he said. A year later, Mah was offered a full-time role at Dododots, managing logistical aspects of the business and mentoring younger team members. Dododots founder Ethan Wong, 26, hired Mah because he saw his energy, passion, and willingness to embrace challenges. 'He has the energy, passion, spirit and enthusiasm of a 25-year-old man,' Wong said. 'He gives his all in everything he does and never says no to a challenge.' Wong also highlights Mah's efforts to bond with the team, joining them for activities like pickleball, badminton, and football. Wong emphasizes his belief in giving older individuals a chance to contribute to society, sharing that Mah's experience and wisdom benefit the younger generation.Mah, the oldest member of the company, hopes to inspire others his age to embrace lifelong learning. 'I want the others to know that when they hit their 60, the interesting part of life isn't over yet. Knowledge as people say is from the womb to the tomb,' he said. 'Look at me - I'm trying out all kinds of fun stuff and even following the Gen-Z with their Tik Tok trends.
