The CDC identified the cause as the norovirus.

Seventy people on a Princess Cruises vessel came down with a gastrointestinal illness during their month-long voyage from Singapore to Los Angeles.

The ship departed on Oct 17 and the outbreak was reported on Nov 9. The CDC has also ruled norovirus as the “causative agent” due to the symptoms reported. According to another article on CDC, the virus can also be foodborne and people of all ages can get sick from the virus. The ship then arrived in Los Angeles on Nov 17 to drop off the affected passengers and crew, before embarking on a 16-day journey to Fort Lauderdale, Miami, the same afternoon, said the Daily Mail.
