The shooting occurred about 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Merida Apartments, 2160 NE Loop 410, a San Antonio police report states.The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the girl as Rosalinda Martinez. Her death was ruled a homicide. When police were dispatched to investigate the shooting, a family member had taken Rosalinda and the mother to a nearby hospital. Rosalinda and the mother both had gunshot wounds.

A report states that Rosalinda was in critical condition and died from her gunshot wound. The mother was in fair condition.The mother, 21, wanted the firearm back, and they struggled for the gun as the mother was carrying Rosalinda.
