While Top Gun: Maverick’s perfect ending didn’t seem to demand a sequel, Top Gun 3 could still answer a lot of its lingering questions. The original Top Gun was not a movie that seemed to require a sequel either. Undeniably a product of its time, Top Gun was a goofy action movie that saw Tom Cruise’s lovably reckless test pilot fight to become the best in his class while clashing with trainers and rivals alike.
8 What Happened To Viper After Top Gun? While Viper played a pivotal part in the original Top Gun, Tom Skerritt’s tough-talking mentor was nowhere to be seen in Top Gun: Maverick. This was more than a little surprising since Skerritt is still alive and acting and his sit-down with Maverick in the original movie’s third act is what compelled the hero to get back into the cockpit.
