Recently, I started working with an engineering leader at a top car company. Within weeks of starting to use a task app instead of his memory and multiple, fragmented lists in different places, he told me that it had been a true game changer.
I ask my clients, instead, to try two strategies: First, turn off those notifications because no one relies on written communication in a true emergency anyway. Second, batch-process your communications. I recommend checking and processing email and Slack between two and four times per day depending on your job role or company culture, getting as close to zero as you can each time, and otherwise keep email closed.

This allowed him to go from almost no strategic work in a week to a few hours a week, which made an enormous difference in his impact. And lastly, meetings are additive — just because you've done an audit once doesn't mean you're done.
