A new study has found that the cost of smoking marijuana and e-cigarettes is more expensive than traditional cigarettes.
gathered state-level data on the average costs of a pack of cigarettes and an ounce of marijuana to determine how much either would cost over various time periods. Vaping cost figures were deduced by multiplying “local cigarette costs by the average cost ratios of cigarettes to vape cartridge products.”
To be fair, the numbers calculated by the study are still eyebrow-raising: A year’s worth of smoking came to a total average cost of $1,664.10 while a lifetime came out to around $98,182.02 . “While smoking and vaping can cause adverse side effects on your health, they could also hit your wallet just as hard,” the study concludes. “Tobacco and marijuana use could lead to you spending more in taxes needlessly over the years.
