By this time next year, there'll be a new recreation area to go fishing and hiking!

The two entities had been in discussions for five years to accept a donation of 379.61 acres from TJX Companies, the corporate parent of TJ Maxx and other retail chains. The site surrounding and east of Cassin Lake is mostly on a floodplain and larger than Brackenridge Park, which has 349 acres.
“We view it as a great chance for kids and the public to access a lake, which is not super easy, close by to San Antonio, where they can also come and enjoy the river,” Boese said. “We’re really looking forward to people coming out and getting to enjoy another aspect of nature.”
