Perry faces between five years and life in prison — unless the parole board intervenes. After a heated gubernatorial primary in 2020, the board, citing unspecified “procedural errors,” withdrew its recommendation to grant clemency to George Floyd in December 2021 after it previously voted unanimously in favor of a full posthumous pardon of Floyd’s 2004 drug conviction.
