Plus: Review of the whodunit Suspect, starring Nick Cheung.
— from left Angus Cloud, Kathryn Newton, Alisha Weir , Kevin Durand, , Melissa Barrera, William Catlett, and Dan Stevens— make an unscheduled house call.. The set-up: a motley crew of shady characters are hired to abduct and babysit a 12-year-old daughter of a mob boss.
Incongruous and inert whodunit starring Cheung as an ex-cop with a photographic memory recalled to solve a series of killers tied to a video game. Getting in the way of his sleuthing is the dick’s own tortured past: his twin brother was done in by a serial killer! He’s messed up but he’s still allowed to carry a gun. That isn’t the only strange part: the story is set in an unnamed HK-esque city with a retro futuristic vibe . The whole mess feels like it was written by AI.
