A total of 26 people were arrested in an enforcement operation conducted by Traffic Police against errant motorcyclists at Tuas Checkpoint on May 16.
About 400 motorcyclists were stopped for checks and 25 people, aged between 18 and 38, were arrested for driving without a valid driving licence and using a motor vehicle without insurance coverage.
The offence of driving without a valid driving licence carries a fine of up to $10,000, a jail term of up to three years, or both. Repeat offenders are liable to a fine of up to $20,000, a jail term of up to six years or both. The vehicle may also be forfeited.
