The star received the doctorate alongside other honorary doctorate recipients. They included American chipmaker Nvidia co-founder and chief executive Jensen Huang, who was conferred a Doctor of Engineering. Leung was given the title of Doctor of Humanities. Leung is known for his roles in Wong Kar-wai movies like Happy Together and In The Mood For Love . His role in the latter won him Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival. He is also the first Chinese actor to receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Film Festival in 2023.
