Israeli-based Cyberbit is at the forefront of cybersecurity training
As a result, Dar and his team came up with the concept of a hyper-realistic cyber range, much like simulators built for training pilots for every situation. They believed that conventional training approaches did not prepare cyber professionals for the realities of a cybersecurity incident.
“The idea was to build a simulator that will really enable them to experience the real cyber world. To take real live attacks, to experience the tools that you are using in the stock, to work on a virtualized environment, which really imitates an enterprise-grade network. Just imagine that you have a simulator in which you can run a ransomware attack, for example, and you train on this. You learn how to detect, you learn how to respond, you learn how to mitigate, you learn how to work as a team.
Today Cyberbit is growing fast with some 150 employees. Corporations like Deloitte, eTrade, Sirius and ISA Cybersecurity, plus academies and schools like Perdue University and Ivy Tech Community Colleges use Cyberbit to train thousands of cybersecurity practitioners and students in hyper-realistic, live cyberattack simulations.
Dar entered the Israeli Army and later joined and rose to a leadership position in Israel Intelligence. He holds a degree in industrial engineering from Technion and an MBA from Tel Aviv University. Prior to founding Cyberbit, Dar was CEO of ELOP, a global leader in electro optics, where he led the company’s growth to over $500 million annual revenues and 1,800 employees.
As for the future? Dar says, “I’m looking at Cyberbit as a legacy that I want to leave behind. And I really believe that Cyberbit can make a difference. And I think that I had, and I still have, the opportunity to have a very strong executive team around me, which has the same notion, the same dream, the same urge, a sense of urgency, that we really need to deliver something that can really make a difference in the world. And we are moving very, very quickly in that direction.
