40 + Double Dutch Club members from across the east coast gathered for the 'East Coast 5 State Big Jump' event on Saturday at Memorial Park. The nation wide organization is designed for women ages 40 and up to embrace the nostalgia and memory of childhood.
They played hopscotch, hula hooped, too, and double Dutched a scorching hot Saturday away in Harrisburg’s “East Coast 5 State Big Jump” event.More than 100 members representing different 40 + Double Dutch clubs across the East Coast gathered and turned back the clock for Saturday’s event.
The event was the first play date involving multiple 40 + Double Dutch clubs across the East Coast. Black said the organization goes beyond the ropes, calling the jump club a “sisterhood.” Ishima Buttler, from the Poconos Double Dutch club said she enjoys the fitness aspect and having the opportunity to get away from everyday responsibilities. The 45-year-old said she hadn’t jumped rope in 30 years before joining the club.
“When I was younger, I always loved jumping so when I saw this group, I was like a kid at a candy store,” she said. “Ready to jump, play, and do everything. I’ve never been around a whole bunch of females, but this group of ladies made me learn how to appreciate life and it made me learn how to love different people.is designed for women to focus on improving their physical and mental health by reliving childhood memories and creating new ones.
