Ald. Byron Sigcho-Lopez, 25th, opened a makeshift shelter in a vacant warehouse in Pilsen on Tuesday evening to house dozens of migrants without a place to sleep, as thousands of asylum-seekers have come to Chicago over the past three weeks.

We don’t have enough resources to support our people here.”Sigcho-Lopez said he hopes to set up more shelters and facilities in areas like Pilsen, where there is Spanish-language infrastructure and the community is not being forced to facilitate programs to accommodate new arrivals against their will.
