Anwar: “The discussions among others, revolved around rider income, social safety net, the need for upskilling and training.'
In a statement today , Anwar said the decision was made following a meeting with representatives of 24 p-hailing companies and five riders to understand the challenges and issues faced in the industry.
“After hearing the views of both sides, the unity government has agreed to increase the allocation for upskilling initiatives and training that will be spearheaded by the Human Resources Ministry,” he said. “This further research is important as by improving the wage rate of riders, the interests of consumers especially in rural areas, will remain prioritised so that the people will not be burdened while also taking into account the operators’ capabilities.
