she’s created since she started the line, Layla has made it a point to maintain a “beachy playfulness” through her designs, which are meant to be worn “literally, all day long into the night.”, which she says is more multifunctional than the first collection, with silk and gingham fabric pieces featuring glass stars and hearts, and can be worn as a headband, hair tie, or a choker, giving customers more options and allowing them to express different versions of themselves.
Layla, who previously used sourced beads to create her designs, feels proud of working with another artist and having more control over everything this time. “It's crazy how empowering it is to have a vision and then literally see it come to life,” she says. With this collection, which began as hand-done paintings of ribbons, the designer hopes to make people feel good about themselves. In fact, optimism and confidence are through lines in all of her collections.
