The hilarious live-action comedy was directed by Tim Hill and written by Jon Vitti, Will McRobb, and Chris Viscardi. It premiered in 2007 and is based on the characters of the same name by Ross Bagdasarian Sr. It stars Jason Lee as Dave, Ross Bagdasarian as Alvin’s signing voice, Justin Long as Alvin, Matthew Gray Gubler as Simon, Jesse McCartney as Theodore, Janice Karman as Theodore’s singing voice, David Cross as Ian, Cameron Richardson as Claire, and Jane Lynch as Gail.
