At Alvin Elementary, students and teachers marched in an art hat parade, wearing hats they designed and constructed.A March focus on art throughout Alvin ISD spawned projects at 31 campuses, including a student-curated exhibition, a hat parade and creation of a monochromatic set of furniture in the style of famed Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.
Alvin High School art students curated their own exhibition in which steps included creating"call for entry" flyers, cataloguing submissions, hanging the artwork and hosting the reception. Continuing in the theme of flight, Nolan Ryan Junior High students assembled"wings" by using watercolors and salt techniques to make paper feathers.
