In the early hours of April 1, an explosion was reported at an unoccupied single-family home on the 200 block of Juniper Road in Mammoth Lakes. The blast caused a structure fire, the Mammoth Lakes Police Department said in aThe fire resulted in flooding from melted snow, prompting the evacuation of a nearby condo unit. No injuries were reported in the incident, and police told SFGATE the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

Family members said that Bunch turned on a stove in the condo, which resulted in a propane tank explosion.
"Arlene and her family were trapped in separate rooms under building materials/ceiling, walls, furniture, and debris but not before severely burning Arlene who was in the face of the blast," Bunch's sister wrote on aTop Picks In Shopping
