KOTA KINABALU: Another adult bull pygmy elephant has been found shot dead with its tusks missing, this time at a plantation in Beluran district, some 210km from here.
The elephant had several gunshot injuries compared to the more than 70 bullet wounds found on an adult male pygmy in east coast Tawau district on Sept 25.
"Our team of vets and rangers went to conduct a post-mortem and investigations in the evening after the discovery," he said when contacted Sunday ."From what we know, the elephant was shot dead and had its two tusks removed," he said.It is learnt that the elephant has been dead for at least three days.
Investigators later found that it was an adult, believed to be 30 years old, riddled with over 70 bullet wounds and with its two tusks sawn off.
