If you like unlocking your car from your iPhone, new features may be on their way.
For instance, as well as unlocking your vehicle from the display of the iPhone or Apple Watch, you’ll be able to re-lock the car from the same screen with no need to move to another one. Handy if you’ve unlocked by mistake or changed your mind.New features include turning on the climate control using your iPhone, for instance. So, it’ll be able to turn on the air conditioning or heating to adjust the environment to a particular temperature.
That’s pretty cool—you can turn on the AC so it cools down the car on a hot day without you climbing in, turning it on and doubtless opening all the windows to make it bearable until the AC kicks in properly. It’ll also be able to show on the iPhone screen if the trunk is open and, potentially, open the trunk if necessary.Apple
Then there’s an alarm button which will tell you whether the alarm is on or off and, presumably set it accordingly.With patents, there’s no clue as to when the contents might become part of a new software update, or even if they will appear at all. But it shows Apple is continuing to work on improving Digital Car Keys.
