Apple has launched a new webpage/tool on its website that allows users to compare their current iPhone with the latest model, highlighting the features they may be missing out on. The tool emphasizes improvements in camera capabilities, including zoom without loss in quality and new video modes.

Warming up to the presence of USB-C on new iPhones, Apple says “USB-C means you can charge your Mac, iPad, or PC with the same cable as iPhone 15”.Cupertino also makes sure to tell you the latest A16 Bionic chip “has an X amount of extra GPU power compared to your older iPhone”, which won’t convince anyone to upgrade.
Apple’s pitch doesn’t hold up well at all in some regards. For example, Apple mentions that iPhone 15 “captures supersharp close‑ups with three zoom options for framing flexibility” when comparing it to the iPhone 12 Pro Max, but the latter has an actual 2.5x optical zoom camera, which is useful for long-range zoom photos and Portrait mode. On top of that, iPhone XS, iPhone X and older iPhones are missing from the comparison list altogether, which is a missed opportunity.
Do you need to upgrade every year? Apparently, Apple doesn’t think so, and that’s in the face of all the tech nerds who criticize new iPhones for bringing few upgrades over the previous model; Apple’s answer is that the latest iPhone is actually made for people still rocking 3-5 year-old iPhones, and I… agree
