“I was face to face for the first time,” said Morrison. “I just said, ‘Dude, you’re a legend!’ He kind of smiled and gave me a wink. I felt like an idiot — little fanboy here.” “We had our choice of a whole bunch of bands,” said Steve Carr, the Headstones’ keyboardist and road manager. “A lot of bands rocked. A lot of bands might have been musically compatible and yet we were kind of looking for that extra little something. The Arcana Kings stood out.”
The Arcana Kings have deep Saskatchewan ties beginning with frontman Johnny McCuaig, who used to live in Moose Jaw. He and guitarist James Picton currently reside in Nelson, B.C., while Morrison and Graham Templeman live in Saskatoon and Kevin Kyle is from Regina. The Arcana Kings are slated to perform later this month in Regina at the Saskatchewan Winter Games before heading back on tour. They’ll make an annual trip to Las Vegas for St. Patrick’s Day festivities on Freemont Street and they’ve also been invited back to Sturgis after a successful appearance last year at the famed motorcycle rally.Article content“I hope so because nobody really wants to be an opening act,” noted Carr. “You take a lot of lumps when you do it. You’re not making any money.
