In season five of the HBO drama, “The Sopranos,” which made its debut 20 years ago, the pugnacious mafia patriarch played by the late James Gandolfini wore an eyesore of a polo shirt, its print depicting teensy hot sauce bottles and dancing chile peppers. Mercifully, the garment never graced the screen again. “It was so wacky and weird,” said Peter Gonzalez, 20, a retail associate in Miami and fan of the series, who considers the Tabasco shirt a style pinnacle of sorts.
