Four of the robberies happened in one day over a 30-minute period, police said.
A man was arrested last week after he was accused of robbing five Bergen County gas stations and convenience stores at gunpoint in two days, authorities said.
Four of the armed robberies were reported in a 30-minute window during the evening hours of Jan. 22 and involved hold-ups of the 7-Eleven convenience store in Fair Lawn, the BP Gas Station in Paramus, and the Valero and Bolla Gas Stations in Mahwah, theOn Jan. 25, another armed robbery was reported; this time at a 7-Eleven in Elmwood Park, the office said. Detectives said the same person who committed the four robberies three days earlier had robbed the Elmwood Park 7-Eleven.
Police arrested Thomas Johnson, 30, of East Orange, on Feb. 2, in connection with the crime, investigators said. Johnson was charged with six counts of armed robbery, one count of aggravated assault and multiple weapons-related offenses, the office said. He was taken to the Bergen County Jail and was being held pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
