Arrest made in fatal crash that killed two Canadian tourists [Breaking]
A driver suspected of speeding when he struck and killed two Canadian tourists in the Point Loma area in January has been arrested, Harbor police officials said Thursday.Police said 71-year-old Jerome Zimmer and 69-year-old Madelyn Zimmer, both of Alberta, Canada, were crossing the street about 6:05 p.m.
when a speeding, westbound vehicle hit them. It’s unclear if the pedestrians were in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.Kevin Thomer, the 35-year-old driver, stayed at the crash site while officers investigated. He was booked into jail early Thursday on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.
