The big worry with every variant is that some new quality will enable it to spread faster and get around peoples’ immunity built from vaccination and or previous COVID-19 exposure.But doctors still aren’t sure if it’s making people sicker. As of earlier this week, 170 people with COVID-19 were in intensive care in Pennsylvania, with 75 needing breathing ventilators,That’s far less than the surge of late 2021 and early 2022.
