Chas McCormick's return reignites Astros' center-field competition with Jake Meyers
after missing three weeks with lower back tightness. He went 0-for-4 in the loss.
“He did an awesome job,” McCormick said. “I think the bottom of the order did great. When Dubón was on his hitting streak, Julks was hitting really well and Meyers was hitting really well, they were impressive to watch. With McCormick, who's hitting .250 with 2 homers and 9 RBIs this season, back and Michael Brantley’s activation from the injured list figuring to come in a matter of days. Manager Dusty Baker said his plan was to “mix and match” McCormick and Meyers in center field. McCormick’s return also gives him an option in right field when Kyle Tucker, who’s played all 35 games, needs a day off.
