Astros send Michael Brantley for further testing on shoulder

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Astros outfielder Michael Brantley left the team before Wednesday’s game to have his right shoulder checked out.

Manager Dusty Baker said Brantley’s shoulder was “more sore than usual” after he played nine games in a rehab assignment with Class AAA Sugar Land. Brantley had surgery to repair the shoulder last August. “He’s going to go checked out just to make sure nothing’s wrong,” Baker said. “We don’t want to rush him, like we’ve always said. The timetable doesn’t always match . We just have to wait until he’s better.”

Baker said the team planned on Brantley rejoining the Astros for the series against the White Sox that begins Friday in Chicago.
