OAKLAND, Calif. — The Astros will place Yordan Alvarez on the 10-day injured list after his hand injury from earlier this season has been getting “progressively worse,” manager Dusty Baker said.
Alvarez flew back to Houston for treatment on Sunday before the Astros played their series finale against the A’s. Baker said he hopes Alvarez will be able to play against the Yankees at Minute Maid Park on July 21 and 22. Because of the injury, Alvarez is unlikely to play in the All-Star game or Home Run Derby on July 19 at Dodger Stadium.
