Large majority of comments from San Diego State fans is that they love new stadium, but ticket prices are much too high and food is overpriced as well
He hasn’t seen it all when it comes to San Diego State football, but Doug Smay has seen most of it.
Smay did take issue with food prices — “$8 for a hot dog is really over the top,” he said — and pined for the days when he and his wife could bring Subway sandwiches inside to eat while the they watched pregame warmups. “For me, it’s all about winning the game. I’d watch them in the back of a dirt field if that’s what they had.”“God bless JD and SDSU for pulling off a miracle in getting that stadium built. Probably the single greatest fete in SD history considering the mess we have at city hall. JD and SDSU were smart enough to keep everything to do with this project away from the ding dongs running/ruining the city.
“I’m incredibly proud of it — and will be even more-so to watch the campus and river park develop around it.” “I will NOT attend games next year if prices are that extreme. That also means a loss for the City in tax revenue by me not staying in a hotel, eating out, etc. I know that one person won’t shut down the City from tax revenues — just venting.”“Lower prices for 2023 season and provide credit to dedicated boosters and season ticket holders that paid full price to only have three games discounted. That’s a bad message to the dedicated fan base.
“That’s egregious. Paying for sharply increased ticket prices, plus mandatory donations to the athletic department, plus a ‘contract’ for three years for a ticket package equals price gouging. “We were very disappointed with our seats, far too high and windy and cold for the price and experience. We will be relocating next season.“Season ticket prices were quite high. I’m afraid we could easily be priced out for next season.”
“The bad is we had to drive in together to have a spot large enough to accommodate fans that like to tailgate together before the game. The rules this year in the parking lot were stifling. It almost seemed they didn’t want us in the parking lots enjoying ourselves prior to the game. “The fans are not filling the stadium, and the reason in my opinion is poor performance by the football team due to a weak offensive line. Brady Hoke has just discovered and tumbled into a fine quarterback, Jalen Mayden. The coach is a fine man and a wonderful defensive coordinator, but he leaves a lot to be desired on the offensive side of the ball.
