Barricaded suspect taken into custody after hours-long standoff in Salt Lake City

Police took a barricaded suspect into custody after hours of attempted negotiations at an apartment complex in Salt Lake City late Sunday night.

Officers initially responded to apartments in the area of area 1740 West 400 North at around 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening.

"No one was injured, there wasn't actually any physical violence," explained Detective Michael Ruff."But those threats were made, which is an aggravated assault." A"rather large" area surrounding the scene was closed off as officers worked to try and bring the situation to a peaceful end.
