The Bellaire softball team did not need rockets to build a commanding lead early.
It was more than enough for pitcher Sophie Donalson, with game one starter Claire Shelley in relief. Bellaire added three runs in the third before the Falcons broke the shutout in the fifth. "I was really excited for Sophie, a sophomore, to come out and throw like she did," Tuffly said."I really wanted her to finish it but there in the fifth her ball started to flatten out a little bit. She also had two big hits, so I'm extremely proud of her for not only her pitching but her offense as well."
