Jurors already had seen photographs of Olivia hooked up to life support at University Hospital on Sept. 5, 2017, showing herThe autopsy photographs shook them the worst on Thursday. The gouge injuries, bruising, and old and new scarring on the girl's scalp were so horrific they prompted state District Judge Stephanie Boyd to call a recess when nearly all the jurors began to cry.
At least one juror closed and tightened her eyes as she sobbed into a tissue. The others broke into tears as they passed a tissue box around, until the judge asked them if they needed a break. Olivia was taken off life support on Sept. 6, 2017, and the Bexar County Medical Examiner ruled her death was caused by blunt force trauma to the head.
