During the coronavirus lockdowns, parents have resorted to virtual birthday parties and impromptu parades to mark children’s special days.
Allyson Murphy’s son Sean went on a “fox-finding mission” for his sixth birthday. Not a fox hunt, but a scavenger hunt to count printed images of his favorite animal taped to his neighbors’ windows.
The family of four took to the streets of their South Orange, N.J., neighborhood late last month to tally the foxes on a clipboard. Some friends stood on porches and in doorways waving and yelling, “Happy birthday, Sean!” as he passed by from a safe distance.
