Businesses are already rolling out Black Friday deals because the countdown to Christmas this year is several days shorter.
More than 165 million people in the United States are expected to shop on Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, over the weekend and through Cyber Monday, according to an annual survey released this month by the National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights & Analytics.
Major retail stores, including Best Buy, Kohl's, Macy's and Target, will be opening their doors on Thursday to launch Black Friday doorbuster deals early. Many will also start Black Friday promotions online, hours before their brick and mortar shops open. The National Retail Federation estimates holiday retail sales in the United States in November and December will rake in as much as $730.7 billion, a 4.2% increase from last year.
