The Scot has been in excellent form this season and won two PGA Tour events before being forced to withdraw from the BMW Championship midway through the third round

Scottish golf ace Bob MacIntyre had to bow out of the BMW Championship during the third round on Saturday.

"Sadly, we have to announce that Robert MacIntyre has withdrawn from the BMW Championship with a niggling back injury incurred in the last five minutes before his tee time in Round 3," announced Bounce Sports Management, representing MacIntyre, via social media. "He will now receive treatment in the hope of making Tour Championship."

He continued his winning streak by claiming victory at the Scottish Open on home turf last month, becoming only the second Scot after the legendary Sandy Lyle to win twice in a single season. With over $5.4m in earnings this season, MacIntyre's career PGA Tour earnings are nearing $7.9m .
